50p for 15 minutes on the net?! What is the world coming to?! Hmph hostels =P Anyway I shall do my best, and briefly =)

First day of work experience went well =) The people at Betty are so friendly and I actually feel like I'm doing work that makes a difference - trekking around Fulham tomorrow giving out leaflets and chatting to people. After a successful stint at navigating the tube last night, I feel confident I'll be able to do it again tomorrow, which is fortunate without the aid of maps! Should be fun anyway... I went over to a different section of Betty today to put in a good word for myself at the prom people's table so that could be fun! I'll speak to the production manager tomorrow afternoon if she's back.

My journey here yesterday went without a hiccup really, and I had some really friendly girls staying in my hostel room too. They were German and are stuck here because of the ash =( They're out of money and the boredom is really setting in, but they were lovely =)

Changed rooms for tonight and it looks like I have it to myself at least for the night, unless there's late checkins still to come. We'll see what happens =) xox

Busy times

I have finally come up with the answers to the two questions I was struggling with for my "The Network" application!! The programme I'd reinvent is "SMTV Live", and the new programme I'd make is a music show bridging the gap between old and new music, aiming to be a show the family can watch on BBC1 on Saturday nights around 7pm, and there will be modern and retro music to appeal to all generations, with interviews, live performances, chart countdowns, music video exclusives and VT clips showing how life was in "the olden days". Dammit I forgot to put in there that there would be album charts too... but oh well I'd used up my whole word count anyway. And the name of the show? Now and Then... obvious but does the trick, I quite like it! Let's hope they do too! Good luck to everyone who is entering, including Ellie, Scott, Henry and Sophie! And Arron? Can't remember if he is or not but meh, a person can never have too much luck =P

In other news, I booked an extra night at the hostel for next week so I am now going from Monday til Friday, with the work experience at Betty from Tuesday. I am really excited but nervous too; I know I'm 20 (still scares me when I say that!!) but this is my first time going to London by myself (I know, sad right?) and staying in a hostel. I'm looking forward to it though, it's like a mini adventure =) Booked my train tickets today too, doesn't seem too complicated thank goodness! I'm not very good with trains... The tube scares me a little too but I'll be fine hehe.

I've also started my essay research, yay, so I'll be carrying that on tomorrow and Saturday, hopefully start writing it Sunday/ Monday so that'll be good =) quite like this topic actually - interesting. And any excuse to watch Battle Royale again - extended version!

That's all for now... xox

Woo!

I have had a breakthrough of the work experience variety; Summerisle Studios, a local company to Suffolk, have got back in touch with me and Tom says he will do his best to help me out. They do things like wedding videos, music videos for local artists and are currently working on their first feature-length film, so it sounds like there's lots of potential for me to get involved =) I really would like work experience where I actually get hands-on experience rather than just 'running' or filing papers all day (although of course I will be grateful for what I can get!)

Let's hope I start hearing back from other companies now =)

CHRISTMAS!

I am SO excited (which is really really really sad...) about the Filofax I got for Christmas, I am preparing it to literally become my brain on paper, which I kinda need because I'm getting busy and I know I'm gonna start doing that thing where I start forgetting what I'm doing or need to do because I haven't written it down... Hooray for Filofaxes! The parents bought me all the relevant little inserts too like post-its and little sticky tabs and business card pockets so it's gonna be AWESOME! And hopefully I'll get loads of work experience interviews to fill the pages up with =P

Beginning of the Ponderment

OK so I'm back to try blogging again... I haven't had much luck in the past but maybe this could be the turning of a new leaf, we'll see.

For now I am just sorry for those of you who read it.. stick with me and I hope to improve at this blogging malarkey - become one of those people who are witty and entertaining in their blogs.

So, welcome back, Caitlin. What have I been up to..? It's been a good summer and I have enjoyed spending time with my parents and friends and Jake, but at the same time I am looking forward to returning to UNI - I am excited about the new house, new flatmates, new year of the course, new lecturers... everything really! Oh, and lots of parties! Can't believe I am already not a fresher, over just like that and soon I'll be married with 3 kids and a mortgage and a full time job! OK not quite but it does feel like each year is going quicker and quicker! =0

So this year I am hoping to keep this blog up, and therefore keep a record of my 2nd year of Uni. The firsst has gone and while there are fond memories and bitter mistakes, it's been a big year for growing up and I want to keep a record of all my experiences from here on in, because 10 years down the line how much am I going to remember off the top of my head?

So that is it for now, happy 1st September 2009 everybody, hope it brings good things.
